TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Former D.C. United Homegrown midfielder Ian Harkes has made the move to Scotland.
Dundee United announced on Tuesday they have signed the American to a two-year deal.
Harkes, 23, spent two seasons with D.C. United out of college at Wake Forest, making 33 appearances and scoring two goals and two assists from a holding midfield role. His contract option was declined following the 2018 season, as he fell down the depth chart over the course of the year.
Born in England while his father, former D.C. United midfielder John Harkes, played there, it turns out the family has a real connection to Dundee United, as Ian explained in a video produced by the Scottish Championship club that his grandfather was born right around the corner from the club and insisted the family is firmly on the Dundee United side of the city rivalry with Dundee FC.
