Tottenham boosted their chances of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages with a 1-0 win over Inter Milan last time out.
Christian Eriksen’s late goal gave Mauricio Pochettino‘s side the crucial goal they needed to stay in contention for qualification from Group B.
They have climbed above Inter to second in the group thanks to their better head-to-head record.
The two sides are level on points and goal difference heading into the final group game but the away goal in the 2-1 defeat at the San Siro means that Spurs have a better head-to-head record than Inter.
The Nerazzurri have shown they can overcome obstacles, however, when they came from a goal behind to secure victory over Spurs at the San Siro back in gameweek 1, repeating that trick away to PSV in October.

Tottenham have the small matter of a north London derby against Arsenal looming on Sunday before they travel to the Camp Nou to face Barcelona in two weeks’ time, where they still need to get a result against the group winners.
Here’s what Tottenham need to qualify from UEFA Champions League Group B…
Pos | Team | P | W | D | L | GD | Pts |
1 | Barcelona | 5 | 4 | 1 | 0 | 9 | 13 |
2 | Tottenham | 5 | 2 | 1 | 2 | -1 | 7 |
3 | Inter Milan | 5 | 2 | 1 | 2 | -1 | 7 |
4 | PSV | 5 | 0 | 1 | 4 | -7 | 1 |
Tottenham need to match Inter Milan’s result at home to PSV in the final group game to qualify in second.
The Italian side, however, now need Spurs to draw or lose in order to finish second. If both sides win, the Italians will drop down to the Europa League.
In short, providing Inter do not collect more points on the final match night, Tottenham will go through to the knock-out stages.
