Marseille are pushing forward with an attempt to sign Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno.
The 26-year-old full-back has been a fringe player this season under Jurgen Klopp and has made just two Premier League appearances for the club.
His current deal with the Reds expires next summer and there has been an absence of developments on a potential new contract.
Moreno will be free to talk to clubs over a pre-contract in January and already, a number of sides are considering signing him up on a free transfer.
According to Friday’s French sports daily L’Equipe, Moreno is one of the players Marseille are closely tracking and they are very much interested in taking him to France.
With the Spaniard available on a free transfer, the Ligue 1 giants are pushing hard to conduct negotiations and possibly agree on a deal with the player.
But they are facing competition for his signature from Moreno’s former club Sevilla, who are keen to take him back to Spain on a free transfer as well.
It also remains to be seen whether Liverpool look to sell the Spaniard in January and look to earn a fee from his departure.
