The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued fines to two players and one coach following the second leg of the Conference Semifinals in the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs, and suspended one player after Week 35 of the MLS regular season.
Castellanos simulation/embellishment
The Disciplinary Committee has found New York City FC midfielder Valentin Castellanos guilty of simulation/embellishment. As a result, Castellanos has been fined an undisclosed amount. The incident occurred in the 64th minute of NYCFC’s match against Atlanta United on Nov. 11.
Leerdam entering the field of play
The Disciplinary Committee has found Seattle Sounders defender Kelvin Leerdam guilty of entering the field of play. As a result, Leerdam has been fined an undisclosed amount. The incident occurred in second-half stoppage time of the Sounders’ game against Portland on Nov. 8.
Martino entering the field of play
The Disciplinary Committee has found Atlanta United head coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino to have violated the league’s policy of entering the field of play. He has been fined an undisclosed amount. The incident took place in the 6th minute of Atlanta’s game against NYCFC on Nov. 11.
Peña violent conduct
The Disciplinary Committee has found Houston Dynamo forward Ronaldo Peña to have committed violent conduct. Because of that, Peña has been suspended one additional game (two games total) at the start of the 2019 MLS regular season and fined an undisclosed amount. The incident took place in second-half stoppage time of Houston’s game against the LA Galaxy on Oct. 28.
