Transfer Talk – Man United orchestrating cut-rate move for Chelsea’s Willian

Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window, and Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.

United eye Willian as Mata heads for exit

Manchester United are looking to raid Chelsea again this summer with Jose Mourinho keen to be reunited with Willian.

The Sun claims United want the Brazil international after being knocked back last summer and could strike a deal for just £30 million, despite him having two years to run on his contract.

The 29-year-old has been in fine form for the Blues in recent months, taking his season totals to 13 goals and 11 assists.

Willian could arrive as Juan Mata leaves, despite United triggering a one-year extension to see his deal run until 2019.

Gunners aim to win race for Sokratis

Arsenal are on their way to the Europa League semifinals, but plans are underway to strengthen their back line with a move for Borussia Dortmund star Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

The Greek international is a target for the Gunners, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, with the German club under pressure to sell due to his contract expiring in 2019.

The 29-year-old will cost in the region of £25m, though Arsene Wenger will face competition from Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho wants another defensive target too, with Le 10 Sport claiming the Red Devils will move for Monaco star Djibril Sidibe.

The 25-year-old is versatile and can play as a full-back on either flank, with Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw and Daley Blind all linked with moves away from Old Trafford.

Umtiti hints at Barca stay

Samuel Umtiti looks set to stay at Barcelona and snub interest from Manchester United, reports Sport.

The French centre-back has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford due to his low buyout clause of €60m (£52.5m).

But Sport claims the player made a gesture (grabbing the badge on the shirt) during the Champions League win vs Roma to show that he is committed to the Blaugrana, although Umtiti denies that was the reason for his celebration.

The report adds that Barca and Umtiti could reach an agreement on an extension within a month and that will include a clause that ensures only the player can decide his future.

Tap-ins

– Inter Milan want Shakhtar Donetsk star Marlos Romero Bonfim or Tottenham’s Erik Lamela this summer.

Tuttosport claims Luciano Spalletti is yet to find his Mo Salah, and given his form for Liverpool, which has been even more devastating than his time under the Italian at Roma, he may struggle to ever find a player as good as the Egyptian.

Daniel Wass will have a host of offers to move to the Premier League this summer with the Sun claiming Leicester, Swansea and Crystal Palace are all keen on the Denmark international.

The 28-year-old dead-ball specialist will be available for a cut-price £4m due to just 12 months left on his Celta contract.
