Cristiano Ronaldo will be benched at Juventus – Massimiliano Allegri

FC’s Alexis Nunes and Paul Mariner predict a few high profile matches week 2 of Serie A, including Juventus’ mouthwatering clash against Lazio.

Paul Mariner addresses what Juventus must fix against Lazio and where Cristiano Ronaldo should be employed in Maximiliano Allegri’s starting XI.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde explains what Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Juventus means for his rivalry with Lionel Messi.

Juventus boss Massilimano Allegri has warned there will be times when Cristiano Ronaldo finds himself on the bench.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner joined the Bianconeri for a club record €100 million deal this summer. While Allegri has confirmed Ronaldo will make his home debut in Saturday’s clash with Lazio, he assured the former Real Madrid superstar he will have to start some matches as a sub.

“There will be times when he [Ronaldo] is on the bench and then just plays half an hour,” Allegri said. “Even he will need a break at some point.

“In Madrid, he managed himself excellently. Now [against Lazio] he will play, then we will see.”

Allegri used three different systems throughout the opening match against Chievo — starting with a 4-2-3-1 before moving to a 4-3-3 after half-time and the ending the match in a 3-5-2 formation.

Juventus eventually won 3-2 with a stoppage time winner from Federico Bernardeschi, and Allegri believes his new players are still trying to learn each other’s game.

“Football is about understanding,” Allegri added. “The more players pass each other the ball, the better they know each other. There will certainly be improvements against Lazio.

“But Ronaldo still had six shots against Chievo. If anything, we need to be more alert for the rebounds.”
