ESPN FC’s La Liga correspondent Sid Lowe explains what it will take for Gareth Bale to seize the opportunity left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.

Real Madrid fans want to see Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane signed as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to a poll carried out by Marca.

Ronaldo, 33, completed a €100 million move to Juventus from Madrid earlier this month, and the poll revealed that fans preferred England international Kane to other potential targets including Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani.

More than a quarter of the 200,000 people who voted opted for Kane, with Cavani and Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi the next most popular, each taking 14 percent.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski — strongly linked with Milan in previous transfer window — polled the same total, with Valencia’s Rodrigo Moreno back on six percent.
