Seedorf: Coaches wrong to follow Man City manager Guardiola

Former Real Madrid star Clarence Seedorf says it’s wrong for coached to seek to copy Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Seedorf believes Guardiola has been benefited from the players he’s been able to work with.

He said, “It’s nice to build from behind, but in football you have to score goals and I believe that the fastest way to score is always the ideal one.

“(Jurgen) Klopp is very pragmatic in this and I like it: when there is too much pressure, it is right to immediately look for the forwards with a throw. Don’t be ashamed… Also because there is a risk of paying a very high price if you lose the ball in certain areas.

“Guardiola’s influence, that of low dribbling at any cost, has not been positive because not all teams can imitate that Barcelona. That said, it’s not Pep’s fault if someone tries to copy him not having Neuer, Pique and Dani Alves.

“Guardiola brings spectacle to any team where he goes to work because he chooses players who can improve his philosophy of play. Then it’s obvious that it’s easier to do it at Bayern or City.”
