MOSCOW, July 6. /TASS/. Representatives of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) were left satisfied with the St. Petersburg stadium’s preparedness for the Euro 2020 after attending the match between Sweden and Switzerland, Director General of the Local Organizing Committee Russia-2018 Aleksey Sorokin said in an interview with TASS.

The UEFA Euro 2020 will take place in 12 countries. The St. Petersburg stadium will hold four matches of the tournament. Group stage matches will take place on June 13, 17 and 22, and a quarterfinal match – on July 3.

“Special representatives of the UEFA have been to St. Petersburg, they went to the Sweden-Switzerland match. They were interested in applying the experience of the World Cup when organizing the Euro. They were left satisfied with what they saw,” Sorokin informed.

It was reported earlier that Sorokin would head the Euro 2020 local organizing committee. “The organizing committee takes the four Euro matches very seriously. Of course, the experience of hosting the World Cup will come in handy. A lot of infrastructure will remain, it will be clear how the stadium works at full capacity. We will discuss now what we need of the temporary infrastructure, and how to preserve it,” he noted.

The St. Petersburg stadium will host the semifinal match and the match for third place of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
