Liverpool to give Dominic Solanke and Divock Origi opportunities in preseason – sources

Divock Origi and Dominic Solanke will both be given opportunities to impress during Liverpool’s preseason, a source has told ESPN FC.

A number of Liverpool’s first-team regulars will be absent for parts of the preseason as those competing at the World Cup in Russia will be granted a break by Jurgen Klopp.

With Danny Ings wanting to leave Anfield this summer in a search for more regular game-time and Daniel Sturridge expected to depart, Origi and Solanke can both stake a claim in the striking pecking order before decisions are made on their futures.

Liverpool return to Melwood for preseason training on July 2 and play their first friendly of the summer five days later at National National League North side Chester FC.

Origi, 23, endured an indifferent spell on loan at Wolfsburg last season, scoring seven goals in 36 appearances.

Solanke, meanwhile, was a back-up option to Liverpool’s frontline last term, but only managed one goal in 27 outings during his first season at Anfield.
