Barcelona face coughing up an extra bonus to Borussia Dortmund for Ousmane Dembele‘s original transfer.
Marca says if Dembele features for Barcelona against Alaves on Saturday, the winners will be Borussia Dortmund as they will be due another add-on payment in what could be a 135 million euro transfer.
When the Blaugrana chiefs went to sign Dembele in the summer of 2017, they found that his price had gone up after the Catalan club’s sale of Neymar for 222 million euros.
Weeks earlier, Barcelona had baulked at the 90 million euros Dortmund wanted for Dembele, but they ended up paying 105 million plus a significant amount of performance related add-ons.
Some of these variables were easily achievable, such as five million euros if Barcelona qualified for the Champions League, which could be activated a maximum of twice and already has been delivered.
