The 18 man squad that UEFA have decided on naturally skews towards the 13 time winners of the competition, given their added depth over the Reds, with eight players in the side.
The Liverpool duo of Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah do make the cut, along with January arrival Virgil van Dijk.
There’s much disappointment at the absence of James Milner however, with the Englishman breaking the record for the most assists in a campaign with nine. Sadio Mane was also snubbed, despite scoring ten goals, including one in last night’s final.
No Milner with 9 assists?

Bayern Munich and Roma are next with two players each. Joshua Kimmich and James Rodriguez represent the German semi-finalists while Alisson and Edin Dzeko are rewarded for their efforts for Roma. Alisson made the most saves in the competition, with 47, a whopping 15 ahead of the next best Ibrahim Sehic (Qarabag).
The best of the rest include Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), and Lionel Messi (Barcelona).
