Real Madrid coach Zidane: VAR a plus for football

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane says he remains a supporter of VAR.

During Wednesday’s Clasico at Barcelona, Raphael Varane had two claims for a spot kick waved away by referee Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez while neither incident was overturned by VAR.

“In the end, the past is the past,” Zidane stated.

“VAR is important. It’s technology, it’s a plus for football, but it could certainly improve. Everyone wants to improve it and I’m sure it will. Everyone makes mistakes.

Los Blancos voiced their disdain with the officiating in El Clasico on their website, so will the club make an official complaint?

“No. What interests me is the match tomorrow [against Athletic Club].” Zidane said.

“The past is the past. The coaches, players and club are focussed on the match tomorrow.”
