The summer transfer window is now in full swing. There are stories and speculation swirling around everywhere. Sometimes it feels overwhelming.
But please don’t stress, because here at Tribalfootball we will summarise the biggest stories throughout football each week and let you know whether you should believe the paper talk or not…
Clubs Interested: Arsenal
Arsenal appear to have won the race for Greimo striker, Everton Soares.
Everton Soares was part of the Brazil side that won the 2019 Copa America contributing to the Selecao’s impressive run with three goals and an assist in four starts.
Soares’ impressive performances at the Copa America raised his stock tremendously as PSG and Arsenal proceeded to make serious inquiries about his services, but recent reports suggest that Arsenal are extremely close to signing him for a fee believed to be in the region of £40m.
Gremio will be looking to cash in on Everton Soares’ recent success with the Brazil national team as soon as possible hence Arsenal will most likely get their man.
Likelihood: Should be announced soon
Willian – Chelsea
Clubs Interested:Barcelona
Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Willian but Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard is reluctant to let the Brazilian leave the club this season as Chelsea are short on quality players as a result of their transfer ban.
Willian has just one year left on his contract, though, so Frank Lampard still has a lot to consider regarding the Brazilian’s future at the club.
Barcelona‘s interest in Willian stretches as far back as the 2017/18 Premier League season
Willian is currently enjoying a little break from Chelsea‘s pre-season preparations having featured for Brazil in the Copa-America.
In their current climate, Chelsea will need Willian’s services for the 2019/2020 season. They simply cannot afford to let him go.
Likelihood: It’d be a silly move from the Blues
Paul Pogba – Manchester United
Clubs Interested: Real Madrid
Manchester United Chief, Ed Woodward, has reportedly said that United will not be listening to any offers for Pogba once the Premier League’s transfer window closes on August 8, but Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has told Manchester United that they’re prepared to work out a deal for Pogba right till the end of August.
Speaking about Pogba, Zidane suggested that Real Madrid are still in the market for some new players even after signing the likes of Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard.
The Frenchman said: “We need to respect everybody, but the only thing I can say from the club is we know what we want to do. Something could happen before the end of August. We could have some changes.”
Pogba would be the final piece in Zidane’s puzzle hence Real Madrid are expected to still push for him, but at this point it looks like there’s a 50% chance of Pogba joining Madrid before the end of the window.
Likelihood: Let’s wait and see
Bruno Fernandes– Sporting Lisbon
Clubs Interested:Manchester United
Manchester United have offered contract terms to Bruno Fernandes, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Red Devils have been interested in signing Fernandes for months now following his impressive campaign for Sporting CP.
A £50m bid has reportedly been tabled by United along with a 100k-per-week contract offer for the Portuguese maestro.
Fernandes would introduce a new dynamic to United’s bland midfield set-up and United are keen on signing him regardless of whether Pogba leaves or remains at the club.
Sporting will be looking to cash out on Fernandes before the end of the window in a bid to avoid a Fekir-esque situation where his market value will drop so United are likely to sign the 24-year-old.
Likelihood: This one should go through
Neymar – PSG
Clubs involved:Manchester United, Bayern Munich
Neymar has been reportedly offered to some of Europe’s biggest clubs by PSG with the Brazil star desperate to leave PSG before the end of the transfer window.
Neymar’s preferred destination is Barcelona, but news outlet Sport reports that negotiations between the Catalan outfit and PSG are at a deadlock thus, a deal between both clubs may not be possible before the transfer window draws to a close.
However, the former Santos man would still be keen on a move away from PSG even if the destination is not the Nou Camp.
Real Madrid, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have all be contacted about Neymar’s availability.
The likes of Madrid, Bayern and United all have the financial ability to sign Neymar, but acquiring his services would be a big jump.
Regardless, Neymar is a player any team would love to have, so there’s a decent chance that either Madrid, Bayern or United will sign him before the window closes.
Likelihood: This will go down to the wire
