Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola insists he puts winning ahead of style these days.
Guardiola has long argued he would prefer to play good football than winning football. But these days, he appears to have changed his tune.
“You must win, because then they do not throw you out,” said Guardiola, before commenting on Ernesto Valverde’s work at Barcelona.
“What I see, for Barça, they have done very well, Anfield is very tough, for the opposition it is complicated, people think that because you are Barcelona or Real Madrid you have to win everything, another year will play Chelsea, Inter, United … and people think you must win.
“It’s very difficult, winning even a small trophy, it costs.”
