Barcelona coach Xavi delighted with 2-goal Fermin Lopez for win at Almeria

Barcelona coach Xavi was happy with their 2-0 win at Almeria last night.

Fermin Lopez scored twice for Barca’s win.

Xavi said: “They have had very clear chances: there is a shot from Embarba and two other approaches, one from Baptistao and another from Choco. We lacked forcefulness, although we were comfortable.

“We could have scored the second earlier. We also lacked forcefulness at the back. But it is a solid victory that brings us closer to the minimum objective: finishing second. The rival has infected us, their situation has made us feel comfortable in the game, but we have lacked forcefulness and conviction in both areas that we shouldn’t have.”

On Fermin’s performance, Xavi also stated: “They tell us that his loan at Linares was great. He is a footballer that I liked two and a half seasons ago. We tried him in the preseason and he gives us dynamism, energy, goals… he is a footballer who has been in the first team for years. We saw that he didn’t lose balls, that he uses both legs, that he has a goal… he gives us a lot.

“We saw him very prepared already in the preseason.”
