Celta Vigo coach Benitez praises players after Barcelona defeat

Celta Vigo coach Rafa Benitez defended his players after their 2-1 defeat to Barcelona.

Robert Lewandowski scored twice, including a retaken penalty for the injury-time winner.

Benitez said: “It is not the first game that, due to one circumstance or another, we have missed points, or a point. We have to take the positive, which is that the team has been good, has competed, has played well and created chances.

“The team reacts well and makes it very difficult for a good opponent. That’s the way, to see how the players show their face and compete until the end. I think the public appreciates it. If we manage to maintain that intensity, that unity and that spirit we will have a good chance of winning the games we need.”

OOn the penalty, he added: “I am an interested game and it would be subjective. There are the images. If the goalkeeper is a few centimetres ahead, it could also be that possibly at the moment of the shot there were three yellow shirts inside the area.”
