Getafe signing Ilaix Moriba hints at Barcelona exit regrets: The club of my life

Ilaix Moriba is delighted to join Jose Bordalas’ Getafe.

On-loan from RB Leipzig, the former Valencia and Barcelona midfielder is hoping for a fresh chance playing for Getafe coach Bordalas.

He said at today’s presentation: “I think that one is neither very good yesterday nor very bad today. I have had mistakes and that is what life is all about, learning what you have done. I have a great love for the club of my life, Barcelona. I had mistakes and now I am at a moment where I want everyone to see the player they saw.

“I’m looking forward to starting to play here, for everyone to start respecting me like they did. A correct decision was made or not (leaving Barcelona in 2021). The truth is that I am happy to be here now and I want to show that I am still the same and I want to work for it.”

Moriba acknowledged that one of the main reasons for choosing Getafe was the presence of Bordalás on the bench.

“He is someone I have to thank a lot. Despite the bad time I went through, he knew how to bring out the best in me and motivate me (at Valencia).

“There were times when I lost confidence in myself and I hope that now we will do it again. He is one of the best or the best coach I have ever had. I come eager to give everything for him because he has trusted me.

“I didn’t want to hear more things because I know Bordalás. I know what he asks for and I can give it to him. I want to start enjoying football every week and that what is said is bad about me. People don’t know me, I have never spoken, I don’t have to explain to people what they talk about me. I just want to be like any kid who starts playing now, I just want to enjoy football.”
