Barcelona coach Xavi: Real Madrid TV? I take it with humour; I have no friends in the press

Barcelona coach Xavi insists the taunts of Real Madrid TV won’t get to him.

Xavi was attacked by Real Madrid TV last night after hitting out at the manner of Real’s win against Almeria on Sunday.

Ahead of tomorrow’s Copa del Rey clash with Athletic Bilbao, Xavi said: “I believe in the honesty of the referees, but I don’t like the pressure they have. I don’t want to say anything else. Do not ask me.

“The controversy is not in me, it is in the game. I already gave my opinion.

“I have always respected Real Madrid. And if I haven’t, I’ve asked for forgiveness. I am not of wars. I respect videos, memes … I take it with humour.

“They will know if they are affected. I do not know. Now they make press conferences. And ask the Federation. If I answer you give me … ask Medina Cantalejo. I prefer to talk about the game. How we attack the backs, in the spaces … but you ask me about the Federation … you know my opinion.”

He added on the press: “I don’t control you. I do not. Other people maybe, yes. I have no friends in the press world. I am dedicated to soccer, to motivate footballers … I give my opinion because you ask me. I don’t like the controversy.”
