Barcelona coach Xavi: Without the LaLiga title last season I wouldn’t be here now

Xavi says he won’t outstay his welcome at Barcloona.

Ahead of facing Copa del Rey opponents Unionistas, Xavi addressed his position amid speculation his job is under threat.

He said today: “If we don’t win and we don’t get titles there will be consequences, but since we have won and titles have been obtained, I am still here. If last year I hadn’t won the League right now I wouldn’t be here.

“I have always said the objectives. The first this year was to get to be in the eighths of the Champions and it has been fulfilled. If this year is not fulfilled, we will go home. But as with all coaches, it doesn’t just occur with me.

“I will never be a problem for Barça. Above all I am culé and I love this club. Whatever happens. I am here to add and to help. When they tell me I don’t add up anymore, I’ll go home with no problems.”

Xavi also said of the players: “The day I notice they are not with me, I will take things and go. We are touched. Defeats against Madrid weigh and cost to digest. But we have always believed in what we do. Starting tomorrow we want to do it in the best possible way.”
