Barcelona coach Xavi insists victory at Las Palmas deserved: Repect for the current champions!

Barcelona coach Xavi insists they deserved their win at Las Palmas.

A 93rd minute penalty converted by Ilkay Gundogan saw Barca win 2-1.

Xavi said: “If you played between the lines it was to attack spaces. We have done exercises for that during the week. A lot of horizontal passing and thus it is difficult to attack spaces. Today the talk was very short. It was a matter of timing, of diagonals. The game required that.

“In the second half we were good. In the first one it was difficult for us. We clearly saw the pass behind us and we rushed. I think the victory is deserved. We didn’t expect to have so much dominance.

“Of course (we can win the LaLiga title). Did you see the Liga games yesterday? We won at the last moment with a penalty. We have arguments. The first is that we are the current champions. Respect for the current champion.

“It makes me laugh. Why talk about what hasn’t happened?”

“We have found ourselves in a defensive mismatch. Nobody had come back from this team. It has merit. At half-time I told them that we were going to win 1-3.”
