Girona midfielder Aleix Garcia: Romeu departure a blow; Michel always in contact with Guardiola

Girona midfielder Aleix Garcia admits they miss Oriol Romeu.

Romeu left the current LaLiga leaders for Barcelona in August.

Garcia told Sport: “Yes, Oriol was a very important loss, but the team has managed to get back together.

“There are many players who were there last season, we know each other a lot and those who have come have adapted perfectly. I have tried to take on a more important role, I am already old, I have been on the team for a few years and I have to show the younger ones that I am there exercising more leadership.

“I’m proud to wear the captain’s armband, but we still miss Oriol.”

Garcia, who spent time with Manchester City, was also asked about Pep Guardiola and Girona coach Michel.

He said, “We all know who Pep is, what a great coach he is and everything he has won. Míchel is trying with the City Group, with a lot of contact with Pep, to learn from him.

“He has brutal football concepts. And when you are comfortable in a club like Girona, where things are going well for you, it allows you to show your personality with the tranquility that accompanies you outside.”
