Girona captain Stuani: We’re no longer the surprise packet; we want the dream to continue

Girona captain Cristhian Stuani says they won’t get carried away being top of the table.

Stuani, however, insists they will throw everything at trying to remain in the title battle this season.

He said, “Today, being first in the League alone and with the start we are making… If we knew it in preseason, anyone would say that we are crazy. It is a dream we are living and we do not want to wake up from it, so we have to enjoy it and be aware that it is an extra responsibility, because we are no longer the surprise and all the teams know our style of play.

“This means that you have to increase your effort and work and we always want to take one more step so as not to wake up from this dream.”

He continued, “We have always transmitted the word humility, for the work and sacrifice we demonstrate in each game and on a daily basis. The coach always emphasises this and it is what leads us to compete the way we do during each game. It is what we have to maintain over time, which is the most difficult, but we are going to try and work with the usual humility. We want everyone on the team to feel proud to be part of this.”

Stuani added, “We are not going to put pressure on ourselves to win every game because that is not going to happen and there will come a time when we will have to suffer, although we already suffer because we are not even the Real Madrid nor Barça.”
