Barcelona president Joan Laporta says they had no option but to cancel their friendly against Juventus.
The match in San Francisco was called off as a stomach virus ran through Barca’s squad.
Laporta explained: “This morning we woke up with ‘the injury’, with a large part of the squad with stomach problems. Football sometimes surprises us with these situations that change plans, we really wanted to play as Spanish champions and it was a hard blow, especially for the boys affected by this intestinal problem.
“We wanted to play in San Francisco against Juve, but due to force majeure we were unable to play.
“The match is suspended and we have no more dates to play, we hope to compensate in some way and we can do nothing but accept the situation.”
