Messi: Adapting to PSG was difficult; I broke up with the fans

Lionel Messi admits he leaves PSG with some regret.

Messi is joining Inter Miami as he comes off contract this month. The Argentine chose Inter Miami ahead of a return to Barcelona.

He told Bein Sport: “I came to Paris because I liked the club, because I had friends and many well-known people in the locker room, teammates or some who had already had been.

“It seemed to me that, beyond what the club was, it was going to have a much simpler adaptation than other teams I could have gone to, so that’s a bit why I decided to go to the club.

“The truth was that it was a very difficult adaptation, much more than I expected. Beyond that we had well-known people in the locker room and had a relationship with them, adaptation to a new change was difficult. I was late, I didn’t have a preseason. I had to adapt to a difficult new city for my family and myself … It was difficult.

“I think the reception was very nice at the beginning. Later, people started treating me differently, a part of the PSG support, the rest and most of them kept treating me like at the beginning. There was a break with the PSG fans. It was not my intention, much less generate that break. It also happened with Neymar or Mbappé previously. I stay with all the people who did respect me as I always respected everyone since I arrived. It was an anecdote.”
