Paris Saint-Germain’s Instagram account has lost many followers over the weekend.
The Parisian club announced the departure of Lionel Messi when his contract expires this summer.
Former Barcelona star Messi has spent two domestically successful but ultimately disappointing seasons with the Ligue 1 side.
PSG are now said to have lost around 800,000 followers on Instagram since the announcement.
PSG star Neymar said on Messi’s departure on social media: “Brother… it didn’t turn out as we thought but we tried everything.
“It was a pleasure to share two more years with you.
“Good luck in your new stage and be happy. I love you.”
