Laporta fumes: Barcelona victim of public lynching; Tebas guilty of verbal incontinence

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has launched a new attack on LaLiga counterpart Javier Tebas.

Speaking to local media over the Negreira case where Barca are being investigated for allegedly paying former referees boss Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira for information on match officials, Laporta blasted Tebas and the local media.

He barked: “A presumption of innocence that Barça has not had until now. Barça has been subjected to a conviction and a media lynching without being convicted in a trial. And to certain media, if not all, I demand and ask you the maximum responsibility.

“We are risking the good name of the club, and refereeing on top of that.”

Then on Tebas, Laporta continued: “It is inexplicable. And I want to point out the president of the LaLiga. The constant accusations of him to feed all this controversy. I would like to ask the president to stop this verbal incontinence because he is not doing the Liga any favours and is validating a hypothesis that is false.

“This campaign is also taking place at a time when Barça is working on a new European competition. The president of the LaLiga has taken advantage of this circumstance so that UEFA joins this public lynching. Therefore, it is no coincidence that this campaign comes out just when Barcelona awards the works of the Spotify Camp Nou.”
