Rafa Benitez insists Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been wrongly portrayed over his handling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Arteta attempted to “support” Chelsea striker Aubameyang in his final few months as a Gunners player, according to Benitez.
The former Liverpool manager has revealed what he has heard “from inside” Arsenal on the situation.
The Spaniard said: “I will tell you something, because I know something a little bit from inside.
“I think he was trying to support the player, as much as he could. Then after he couldn’t, so he had to make a decision and that’s it.”
Aubameyang would eventually leave for Barcelona in January before signing for Chelsea in August.
