Barcelona coach Xavi is delighted with Gavi’s new contract.
The midfielder penned new terms to 2026 this week.
Xavi said, “Very happy. The most important news of the week. He is a heart with legs. He works for everything, to go forward, backwards. He has improved much, much more fluid. He has matured since we have been here.”
Asked about Ansu Fati‘s progress since returning from long-term injury, Xavi also said: “Okay, but we follow a plan. Maybe it’s my fault to see how we manage him.
“He must be important to us. You have to go slowly. It takes time without playing and it takes time. Last year we went too fast.
“He will enter because I love him and it motivates me.
“It is not a mental issue. I decide who plays and who doesn’t, and I may be wrong.
“I spoke with him recently as I do with all the players, but with him more because he is a special case. The injury is forgotten.”
