Man Utd chiefs ran against Ten Hag to drop De Jong bid

Manchester United chiefs pulled out of their pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, despite manager Erik ten Hag‘s demands they continue.

United dropped Ten Hag’s plans for De Jong to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid, reports AD.

United chiefs gave up on the signing of De Jong, in part, due to “doubts about the price” – the €85m demanded by Barca, as well as the almost €400,000-a-week that the player wanted. It led the club’s heavyweights to finally reject his signing.

It was a decision that left Ten Hag frustrated, as De Jong was one of the express requests of the new manager.
