In a blow to Manchester United, Frenkie de Jong will only leave Barcelona for Chelsea.
The 25-year-old has been pursued by United throughout the transfer window and a deal was actually agreed with the Catalan giants to bring him to Old Trafford.
But Sport says the former Ajax star is said to hold real concerns over how United function, with the player’s view said to be that it is run ‘erratically’ by management, and that deters him from wanting to link back up with his former boss.
Therefore he would only leave the LaLiga side for a move to Stamford Bridge, given the fact Chelsea do boast Champions League football, according to Sport.
He is also said to appreciate the ‘project’ and ‘structure’ that is being built under new controlling owner Todd Boehly.
