Barcelona members approve sale of two key assets

Barcelona members have approved the selling of two key assets to help ease debt concerns.

The partners loosely authorised the sale of 49% of BLM and the transfer of 25% of LaLiga’s television rights for a maximum of 25 years.

The Board will get down to work now to find the best offers, which will report, in the words of Laporta, a minimum of $600 million.

A refusal on the part of the partners would have been a very hard blow for president Joan Laporta, who needed an influx of money to balance the budget for this season and be able to go to the transfer market to incorporate players.

Laporta, during his speech, said: “We are not going to ask the partners for money because you do not deserve it, you are not responsible for the mismanagement of resources made.”
