Man City, Liverpool interfering in Barcelona contract talks with Gavi

Manchester City and Liverpool are interfering in Barcelona contract talks with Gavi.

City boss Pep Guardiola wants to sign Barcelona wonderkid Gavi and said the midfielder is ‘fantastic’, amid interest from Liverpool, says La Repubblica.

Gavi, 17, has enjoyed an impressive breakout year for Xavi’s side, making 47 appearances in all competitions. His contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 season and there is currently no progress over a new deal. His current contract carries a €50m buyout clause.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is desperate to see the young star pen a new deal after an impressive breakout year for the club.

But Gavi is delaying signing the new contract at the Camp Nou in light of interest from numerous European clubs, including City and Liverpool.
