Barcelona table new Gavi contract offer to De la Pena in Friday meeting

Agent Ivan de la Pena has held a new round of talks with Barcelona chief Mateu Alemany today over Gavi’s new contract.

De la Pena met with Alemany for around an hour from 10am where a new offer was submitted.

The meeting broke up with nothing signed nor settled, though there was a confidence on both sides that an agreement is closer.

The latest deal would place Gavi at the same wage scale as Ronald Araujo and see his buyout clause raised to €1bn.

Sport says Alemany has been assured Gavi’s priority remains re-signing with Barca and he has already turned down bigger offers.

The 17 year-old’s current deal runs to 2023 and the new contract would extend to 2026.
