The 39 year-old’s deal expires this month and AS says Barca will make a decision on the fullback in the coming days.
Given his form and influence, there is an expectation Alves will be handed a new 12 month contract.
Alves is chasing a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad this year.
The defender managed to play 16 matches for Barcelona this past season.
