Barcelona coach Xavi is confident Gavi will sign a new contract.
The midfielder’s agents are battling with Barca to reach an agreement over a new deal.
But Xavi said today: “It’s very important. He is a player for the present and for the future, renewing him would be great news.
“We have a good relationship with (agent) Iván de la Peña. The will of the player, representative and ours is to continue and the agreement will come. It would be great news.”
On what his players can improve, Xavi said: “Insist on the idea, in training, there are games in which we are not shining. We have had good games against big teams, also in others that have cost us more.
“We must know how to attack and defend, limit mistakes… insist on the game model. It all depends on the players. We have won many important games. If we review the league table we have beaten them all. We must insist on the idea.”
