The former Real Madrid Castilla defender has been on the shortlist of Barca for the past 12 months.
Mundo Deportivo says Barca are in the market for a new left-back and are weighing up making an offer for Alonso.
The Spain international has a contract with Chelsea to 2023.
However, given uncertainty around the club’s ownership, Barca can see the opportunity to tempt Alonso back to Spain this summer.
