Barcelona coach Xavi pushed about Lewandowski deal: I respect him a lot

Barcelona coach Xavi has ducked questions today about Robert Lewandowski.

The Bayern Munich striker is said to have committed to joining Barca this summer.

But at his Europa League presser, Xavi said: “I understand the question, but now is not the time to talk about Lewandowski, whom I respect a lot and who seems to me to be a good player.

“Now is the time to focus on tomorrow’s game.”

Bayern chief Oliver Kahn, meanwhile, is adamant they won’t lose the Pole at the end of the season.

“First of all, it’s very important that we have a contract with Robert Lewandowski that lasts another season. We always said that we would start the talks and we started them a long time ago,” he said.

“I just said that we definitely have another season for Robert Lewandowski. We’re not crazy and we’re not discussing a transfer for a player who scores 30 to 40 goals with us every season. I don’t think that can be the case.

“Apparently there is a competition out there: who will bring out the bigger nonsense story about Robert Lewandowski?”
