Father of Barcelona ace De Jong responds to Man Utd, Bayern Munich links

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong’s father has spoken about rumours linking his son to Manchester United.

Spanish media reports intimated that De Jong may be among a number of players available to purchase in January, as the club looks to reduce its debts and build a winning team under newly appointed boss Xavi Hernandez.

De Jong has been at Barca since 2019, when he joined from Ajax, and he is also being linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

Speaking to Dutch publication Algemeen Dagblad, John de Jong spoke about those links to Bayern Munich and Manchester United: “It’s often bad weather there.

“Of course it’s about football, but it does matter.

“Of course I know that Barcelona needs money and a great offer for Frenkie could help, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon.

“Although, the five top European clubs have all called.”
