Al Sadd chief Al-Ali: Xavi wants to help Barcelona ‘in critical phase’

Al Sadd chief Turki Al-Ali has explained allowing coach Xavi to leave for Barcelona.

After several days of negotiations over a release from his contract, the Qataris have confirmed Xavi is now leaving to return to the Nou Camp and replace sacked coach Ronald Koeman.

Al-Ali explained, “Xavi has informed us in the last few days of his desire to go to Barcelona.

“He wants to take this experience at this particular time due to the critical phase his club is going through in the city, and we understand that and have decided not to make an obstacle for him.

“Xavi and his family will remain welcome in Doha, and the relationship will continue.”
