LIVE: Metz vs PSG

45′ + 1′ HALF TIME: Metz 1-1 PSG

45′ Brilliant save! Metz hit PSG on the break as Maiga fires a quick pass between the centre-backs to unleash Gueye. Gueye finds himself clean through on goal and attempts to lob the onrushing Navas, but the goalkeeper instinctively flicks out an arm and parries it to safety!

43′ The hosts will be looking to frustrate PSG now and keep the scoreline level heading into the interval.

41′ PSG were sleepwalking towards conceding. After a sharp start, they stopped creating chances midway through the half, and Metz have grown into the game and taken full advantage!

39′ It was an inviting cross by Gueye, and Kouyate showed huge desire to get there ahead of the defence and knock a firm header through Navas’ despairing dive.

Goal

Metz

39′ KOUYATE! 1-1! Metz equalise just before the break. The hosts force another corner, after slowly building up the pressure. Gueye puts in an outswinging cross and it’s met by Kouyate inside the six-yard box, where he plants a powerful header across goal and into the far corner!

38′ Udol’s deep free-kick is cleared at the near post by Kimpembe.

36′ Metz will be pleased that they’ve stemmed the flow of PSG chances, but now they’ll need to start working out a way to find an equaliser.

34′ Sarr lets fly with an ambitious shot from 40 yards but it sails well over.

32′ Rafinha cuts inside from the right and fires off a shot that Maiga bravely blocks on the edge of the box.

30′ Yade dribbles into the box under pressure from Pereira, before hitting an awkward shot that flicks off Marquinhos and behind for a corner. The resulting set-piece amounts to nothing.

28′ Metz have started to settle a little more into this game, but PSG still look incredibly dangerous in attack.

26′ Neymar dances dangerously into the box, but Bronn carefully stays with him before knocking it away from the attacker.

24′ Close! Metz almost equalise! Gueye races down the right flank before whipping in an inviting cross for Niang. The delivery arcs behind Niang though, and the striker responds by executing an acrobatic volley that sends the ball flashing inches wide of the far post! That would have been some goal if it was on target.

22′ Mbappe forces Oukidja into another fine save, but it wouldn’t have counted anyway – the linesman had raised his flag for offside.

20′ Mbappe drills in a low cross that ricochets off Icardi before bouncing harmlessly into the arms of Oukidja.

P. Yade

Yellow Card

Metz

19′ Yade is booked after chopping into a challenge with Rafinha near the touchline.

19′ Chance! Mendes swings in an inviting delivery across the face of goal. Icardi stretches to try and poke it in, but he agonisingly misses the ball!

17′ Yade’s deep free-kick is headed clear by Marquinhos.

15′ Mbappe’s been causing Metz all sorts of problems so far. He’s taken two shots while missing three chances.

13′ Mbappe and Icardi work a clever interchange on the edge of the box, before Mbappe drills a low effort wide from 20 yards.

11′ Save! Mbappe has a huge chance to double the lead. The attacker latches onto Rafinha’s threaded pass, before proceeding to try and round the goalkeeper. However, Oukidja anticipates the move and pounces on the ball at Mbappe’s feet!

9′ This has been an excellent start for PSG. They looked unconvincing against Lyon despite their win last time out, but their attack has looked incisive and sharp so far today.

7′ Chance! It’s almost two for PSG. Neymar finds Mbappe in space on the edge of the box, and the attacker slices his 20-yard strike high and wide under little pressure.

A. Hakimi

Goal

PSG

5′ HAKIMI! 1-0 PSG! The visitors take an early lead. Neymar slips Icardi through on goal with a crisp reverse pass. Icardi proceeds to drink it over the onrushing Oukidja, only for Udol to race back and hack it off the line! However, his clearance runs kindly for Hakimi who drills it in despite a valiant block from Kouyate. The referee took a moment to check it went over the line and then awarded the goal!

3′ Metz slice through PSG early on. Maiga sets Gueye free with a delightful throughball, and the winger is away from Mendes! However, he hurries his cross and Kimpembe contorts himself to head clear.

1′ PSG get the first half underway.

The players are emerging from the tunnel and kick off is just seconds away!

Metz have lost their last 10 Ligue 1 games against PSG, their longest run against a single opponent in the top-flight. The last time Metz didn’t lose in Ligue 1 to them was back in August 2007 (0-0 at home).

PSG, on the other hand, make six changes after beating Lyon last time out. The main headline is that Messi isn’t fit enough to be in the squad today. Di Maria, Gueye, Herrera, Kehrer and Donnarumma also drop out with Icardi, Rafinha, Wijnaldum, Pereira, Hakimi and Navas coming in.

Metz make one change to the side that lost to Strasbourg last time out: De Preville makes way for Gueye in attack.

SUBS: Julian Draxler, Idrissa Gueye, Eric Ebimbe, Abdou Diallo, Angel Di María, Leandro Paredes, Ander Herrera, Thilo Kehrer, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

PSG (4-3-3): Keylor Navas; Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes; Rafinha, Danilo Pereira, Georginio Wijnaldum; Kylian Mbappe, Mauro Icardi, Neymar.

PSG, meanwhile, are top of the table. They have a 100 per cent winning record in the league and – despite concerns over the cohesion between their iconic frontline of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe – they’ll be expecting seven wins from seven today.

Hello and welcome to live commentary of this Ligue 1 fixture between Metz and PSG. The hosts enter this one following a tough start to the season. They’re winless after their first six league games and find themselves bottom of the table – today would be the perfect moment to stun PSG with a win.
