Barcelona rushing Oscar Mingueza back from injury

Barcelona are rushing Oscar Mingueza back from injury.

Sport says Minguza is currently in the final stages of his recovery from a left thigh injury that he picked up in this summer’s Tokyo Olympics.

He joined in with parts of various training sessions last week before completing the entire session today (Monday). The absences of Gerard Piqué (injury) and Eric García (suspension) for Sunday’s game against Getafe have led coach Ronald Koeman and his staff to reconsider the player’s recovery schedule.

Mingueza picked up two separate injuries during the Olympics: a muscle problem in his right leg in the tournament opener against Egypt, before suffering a left thigh muscle in the quarter final clash against the Ivory Coast.

Koeman had initially planned to led the defender take his time with his recovery, but he is now expected to be on the bench for this Sunday’s tie in case of an emergency.
