Barcelona midfielder Pedri: Spain players must ignore whistles

Barcelona midfielder Pedri says the pitch wasn’t the best for Spain’s stalemate with Sweden.

Spain kicked off their Euro 2020 campaign with a flat 0-0 draw against Sweden on Monday night.

Pedri, who became Spain’s youngest ever player to feature in a major tournament, said afterwards: “The grass is no excuse, but it was not in the best condition. I hope that for the next game it can be better.

On Spain teammate Alvaro Morata, he also said: “He is very good. He is very strong in the mind. He is calm and knows that the goals will come.

“It’s better to play when you are applauded than when you are whistled. I prefer to stay with the people who encouraged us.”
