Sarabia declares Setien staff have cut Barcelona ties

Former Barcelona assistant coach Eder Sarabia has confirmed he’s cut ties with the club.

Sarabia has finally terminated his contract with Barcelona, three months after coach Quique Setien was sacked.

Sarabia, who was Setien’s assistant, announced on social media on Friday that he has finally reached an agreement with the Catalan club.

Along with Sarabia, Fran Soto and Jon Pascua have also agreed on terms on a contract termination.

“After more than three months, today, finally, Fran, Jon and I have been able to resolve the contractual relationship that, incomprehensibly, still linked us to FC Barcelona,” Sarabia wrote.

“It wasn’t the agreement we wanted but it’s the one we accepted to end with the wear and tear that we had suffered and thinking of the future.

“It’s clear the club’s in a worrying situation, something you notice when you arrive and, as such, it has a direct effect on performances.

“You always believe you’re capable of resolving things but, for us, despite doing all we could, that proved impossible.

“I say goodbye with a huge sense of sadness, but hopeful that things change and Barça return to being the club and team that made us enjoy football for so many years like no other team.

“Visca el Barça!”
