Exclusive: Luis Milla doesn’t see Man Utd target Ansu Fati leaving Barcelona

Former Barcelona midfielder Luis Milla believes Ansu Fati will stay at the club.

At just 17 years of age, Fati has become one of the world’s most sought after young talents after a breakthrough season at Camp Nou.

The La Masia graduate already has 13 goals in 40 appearances for Barca, with many believing he is the natural successor for Lionel Messi.

However, there were murmurs that some of Europe’s biggest clubs were looking to poach the Spain international.

Manchester United were reportedly the most interested in Fati and had devised a plan to sign him after failing to secure Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

According to the Sun, United tried to activate Fati’s £154m release clause.

But the Premier League giants didn’t know Barca had upped the clause to £363m.

Milla, a fellow La Masia product who won a La Liga title with Barca, thinks Fati is going nowhere.

The former Spain U21 manager added that Fati has ‘enormous potential’ and could develop into one of Barca’s great players.

“I see Ansu Fati staying at Barcelona, to be honest,” Milla told Tribalfootball.com.

“He has great qualities as a player but he is only seventeen years old so FC Barcelona need to be patient & look after him so as to develop his great qualities even more… and continue to develop his character too.

“He is already a great player but he could end up being really special if Barcelona develop him properly as a player, given that he has youth on his side. Ansu Fati has enormous potential.”
