Barcelona coach Koeman hopes Ronaldo plays for Juventus

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman hopes Cristiano Ronaldo plays for Juventus in Wednesday’s Champions League clash.

If Ronaldo is given the green light, he will step onto the same pitch as Lionel Messi for the first time since his departure from Real Madrid a couple of years ago.

“For everyone it will be an important and beautiful game to watch, and we always want the best on the field,” Koeman told the press conference prior the match. “I do not know if [Ronaldo] is fit to play, it is not my problem or my decision.

“But I hope he is going to play, for his game and his fame. I respect him a lot.”

Koeman went on to praise Juventus ahead of their game at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday despite their current unconvincing form in the Serie A.

“They are a great European team, which has people with a lot of experience,” Koeman added. “They are strong in defence, despite the losses, they know how to dominate the match and have top quality players.

“[Paulo] Dybala is a quality player and can complicate your life, and [Alvaro] Morata too. There are also good players in the midfield.”
