Ex-Barcelona chief Braida: I always knew Messi would stay

Former Barcelona scouting chief Ariedo Braida isn’t surprised Lionel Messi withdrew his transfer demand.

Messi threatened to leave Barca earlier this summer, faxing in a transfer demand. But he eventually withdrew it after a fortnight’s contemplation.

Braida told TMW: “From the first moment I always maintained that Messi would not leave Barcelona and in the end it was like that.

“If he is well advised, he will also remain in the future.

“The malaise is against the management, he is loved by the public and everyone in the city. He has been there for 20 years and I think he will continue.”
