LIVE: Leicester vs Manchester United

28′ The game is paused for a drinks break.

26′ Iheanacho goes close again! United lose possession too easily again and Iheanacho leads a counter-attack that quickly turns into a three-on-two! Iheanacho’s run draws the defence in and a simple pass to Justin is available to play the defender clean through on goal, but the striker elects to shoot from 20 yards and it trickles into De Gea’s grasp!

24′ A long spell of United possession ends in frustration as Ndidi cuts out Pogba’s pass. After a nervy start, Leicester have done a good job of limiting the away side by adopting a deep, structured defence.

22′ Tielemans attempts to thread a crafty throughball towards Iheanacho, but Maguire stretches to just about cut it out on the edge of the box.

20′ Well, Iheanacho’s opportunity has probably been the best chance so far but it would have been against the run of play. Man Utd have largely controlled this one so far, limiting the hosts to counter-attacks; nevertheless, they will have to be wary about their threat on the break.

18′ Thomas whips in a cross from deep that drifts all the way to Albrighton, who takes a touch before skewing a powerful shot well wide from 20 yards.

16′ Leicester almost open the scoring! Matic carelessly passes it straight to Tielemans on the edge of the area and the midfielder selflessly lays it off to Iheanacho who lashes a fierce shot from 20 yards just over the bar!

14′ Ominously for Leicester, they’ve struggled desperately against Manchester Utd in recent years – United are undefeated in their last 10 games against today’s opponents.

12′ Rashford clips a clever diagonal pass over the top of the defence from deep and Greenwood stretches to nod it on towards goal, but the header drifts a few yards over the bar.

10′ Leicester make a rare foray forward as Albrighton feeds Iheanacho in the penalty area, where the striker jinks past Maguire before going down easily. The hosts make some muted appeals for a penalty, but the referee opts to play on.

Yellow Card

Manchester United

9′ Maguire is booked after lunging into Iheanacho on the halfway line.

8′ Williams darts energetically into the Leicester box again, but just as he’s about to square a cross into the six-yard box, Morgan slides over to steal it away.

6′ United earn their first corner of the game and Fernandes swings it in towards Maguire, but Evans is there at the near post to thump a header away from harm.

5′ Pogba shimmies past Ndidi in midfield before clipping a pass out towards Williams who surrenders possession with a wayward throughball. Nevertheless, Man Utd have dominated these opening exchanges and have started full of intent.

3′ Rashford slips Martial in behind the Leicester defence with a delightful reverse pass and the striker goes down under pressure from Morgan! However, the linesman quickly raised his flag for offside and no penalty decision will be needed.

2′ Man Utd immediately push forward as Rashford attempts to dink a pass through to Martial, but Justin gets there first and clears.

1′ Manchester United get the first half underway.

The players are emerging from the tunnel and kick off is just seconds away!

Leicester looked set to comfortably make the top four before the restart, however, since the resumption their form has collapsed: they’ve collected just nine points from eight games, compared to 53 points from their previous 29 games. Today would be the ideal moment to shake off this malaise.

Manchester Utd, on the other hand, make just one change as Wan-Bissaka returns at right-back in place of Fosu-Mensah.

Leicester make three changes to the side that suffered a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham last time out: Bennett drops out of the backline with Justin moving in from right-back to replace him, meanwhile Choudhury is introduced in midfield with Iheanacho also coming in up top.

SUBS: Eric Bailly, Jesse Lingard, Sergio Romero, Daniel James, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Juan Mata, Fred, Scott McTominay, Odion Ighalo.

MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Brandon Williams; Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic; Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford; Anthony Martial.

SUBS: Demarai Gray, Matty James, Nampalys Mendy, Harvey Barnes, Dennis Praet, Ayoze Perez, Ryan Bennett, Danny Ward, George Hirst.

LEICESTER CITY (3-5-2): Kasper Schmeichel; James Justin, Wes Morgan, Jonny Evans; Marc Albrighton, Hamza Choudhury, Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans, Luke Thomas; Kelechi Iheanacho, Jamie Vardy.

A win would guarantee Leicester qualify for next season’s Champions League for only the second time, while a draw or better for Man Utd would cement their position in the top four.
