RB Leipzig confident Arsenal, Barcelona won’t meet Upamecano release clause

RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche says it is unlikely any club will meet the release clause of Dayot Upamecano this summer.

It would take £53m for the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich to sign the towering French defender.

But given the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, Krosche doesn’t believe clubs will have enough money to meet the clause.

“Such a fee is rather unlikely, at least this summer,” he told German outlet Kicker.

“This is a far-reaching decision for a player. He should take his time.

“I’m no friend of building up pressure.

“He has to find out exactly what he intends to do and how he sees his future.

“Maybe this has changed a bit for him due to this new situation.”
