Valverde insists he holds no Barcelona grudge: I won’t look back

Ernesto Valverde insists he holds no grudge against Barcelona.

Valverde was sacked by Barca over the New Year and replaced by Quique Setien, despite being top of the table.

He said at the Bilbao International Football Summit yesterday: “Training Barcelona has been an incredible fortune. I know what it means to train there from all points of view and I am delighted to have been there.

“When you sign a contract you already know that everything depends on the results and that the coach will always be the one responsible, I don’t think about whether I felt unfairly treated, I understand that you wonder about it, but what I’m about is turning the page. I am interested in going forward and not looking back.

“Once I had decided, I had decided to stand still for a while and we’ll see. I haven’t decided anything. I like doing weird things, maybe a strange adventure. Look, when (Andres) Iniesta told me I was going to Japan…”
